POSITION TITLE
Staff Accountant
OVERVIEW AND REPORTING RELATIONSHIP
With moderate supervision and following specific procedural guidelines and policies, this position performs basic, professional level accounting duties to maintain and administer the Company's general ledger.
OTHER REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES
* Supports the maintenance of the general ledger by researching and preparing entries to record cash transactions per account assignment; preparing and posting monthly journal entries; and on a monthly basis, reconciling assigned general ledger accounts.
* Acts as a resource for the Cash Daily Settlement System within the company and works with business partners to ensure transactions are handled appropriately.
* With a good understanding and application of accounting practices and controls, ensures that internal divisions, business units and departments adhere to and maintain Company standards and proper accounting practices and controls.
* Provides analysis and fluctuation variance explanations related to P&L and Balance Sheet.
* Prepares thorough balance sheet reconciliations to ensure adherence to GAAP.
* Prepares financial supporting schedules, flowcharts and audit support schedules for both internal and external auditors.
* Researches, resolves and operationalizes routine accounting transactions.
* Assists with ongoing account reconciliation and specific projects by reviewing and researching any variances within assigned accounts.
* Works on other ad-hoc or project related responsibilities as needed to support the Corporate Accounting Department.
QUALIFICATIONS
* 3-5 years of experience; experience within a public company preferred.
* Experience with NetSuite or other large ERP system a plus
* Proven working knowledge of GAAP and strong GL experience. General knowledge of the Company's accounting policies and procedures is required to perform the essential functions.
* Possess solid understanding of financial statements.
* Good verbal and written communication skills are required to relay technical accounting information to non-technical people and collaborate with cross-functional business partners.
* Good attention to detail and the ability to remain organized and focused is essential. Incumbents should have the ability to work independently on accounting projects with basic direction and adapt to a rapidly changing environment.
* Intermediate/Advanced Excel skills
* Ability to multi-task, stay organized and prioritize deadlines in a fast paced and continuously changing environment.
* Detail-oriented, problem solving, positive attitude and dependable team player.
EDUCATION
Knowledge of finance and accounting as normally obtained through the completion of a Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting or a related major.
