Job Title: Sr. Product Design Engineer
Location: Mountain View, CA
Compensation: $80-$85/hour

As a Product Design Engineer, you'll be at the leading edge of product development to seamlessly blend the properties of the soft good industry with the technical wizardry of our Client. You'll use your knowledge and creative talent to set the direction of future soft goods augmented with our Client's product, and drive development by working with leading fashion and apparel brands. You will participate in the design, analysis, and prototyping of new concepts. You'll also work in a manufacturing and product oriented development environment and collaborate with vendors and outside sources in order to see parts through to manufacture.

Responsibilities:

  • Mechanical Engineering (ME) design background and knowledge of hardware development for consumer products.
  • Help define architecture, provide design, test & validation requirements
  • Oversee physical engineering design and work cross-functionally on system integration.
  • Work cross-functionally with electrical design, operation and product engineering teams to deliver systems to production.
  • You will need to travel to support engineering builds and ramp to mass production.
  • Lead ME hardware development for our Client's product from concept into production.
  • Design for function, reliability, human factors, manufacturability and cosmetic requirements.
  • Engage in establishing technology roadmaps and creating proof of concept prototypes.
  • Manage vendors to ensure quality of technical deliverables.
  • Lead all ME related failure mode analysis, root cause diagnosis, and system-level problem solving on products and platforms; including those related to architecture (performance, thermal behavior), production (quality, failure analysis, manufacturing), and development (3D CAD, 2D drawings, TA, and overall system integration).
  • Represent ME team in meetings with the cross-functional engineering teams.

Required Skills:
  • MS degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or a related field or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10 years of relevant work experience.
  • Soft goods experience and/or wearable device experience.
  • Experience with wearables
  • Strong cross-functional communication skills and ability to leverage project team to manage project priorities and technical resources.
  • Strong statistical analysis skills.
