Nelson is currently seeking a self-starter, highly motivated Software Engineer for a prominent electronics manufacturing company located in Roseville, CA. The Software Engineer is responsible for building applications that may range from desktop applications to native mobile applications and embedded systems. Primary responsibility will be to design and develop these applications, and to coordinate with the rest of the team working on different layers of the infrastructure. We are seeking a Software Engineer who is accustomed to working through people, has excellent customer service, interpersonal, good coaching and facilitation skills and can demonstrate leadership abilities.

Responsibilities/Duties:

• Design, build and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable C/C++ code.
• Identify bottlenecks and bugs, and devise solutions to these problems.

Required skills:

• Solid understanding of object-oriented programming
• Proficiency in programming on Linux operating systems
• Familiarity with UI frameworks (Qt, GTK)
• Skills for writing reusable libraries
• Experience in multithreading and multiprocess programming
• Understanding the architecture and the purpose of embedded systems, experience with microcontrollers and hardware-related programming.
• Good knowledge of database and or experience with the ability to work with SQL queries and statements.
• Good understanding of network technologies and protocols
• Good understanding of data communication protocols.
• Proficient understanding of code versioning tools, such as Git
• Experience with software testing tools (gdb, valgrind, wireshark)

  Education/ Work Experience:

• Possess a BS, MS, or PhD degree in Software Engineering, CS, Physics, or Mathematics, or meet the alternative prerequisites as stated for Associate Engineer.
• Two years as an Associate Engineer, or equivalent Engineering experience in the field or fields related to the specific purpose for hire.
• Android and iOS application development skills and experience is plus
• Experience with image processing is plus
• .NET not required but beneficial.
• Fluent in English both written and spoken.
