Senior Accountant

A Non-Profit organziation in the East Bay is seeking a senior accountant on a temp to perm basis who will be responsible for the daily accounting functions of the organization including preparing and recording revenue, liabilities and expenses, managing accounts receivable, calculating and posting cost allocations, preparing memorized reports, processing payments to clinics and researching items as needed.


  • Responsible for monthly cap payments to the clinic, including cash receipts, cash disbursements and allocating and posting the entries.
  • Analyze and prepare reports to the HMO's for monthly reimbursement.
  • Balance general ledger by recording transactions and reconciling entries.
  • May serve as a liaison with external Finance and HMO auditors.
  • Compiles and analyzes financial information for the organization.
  • Manage month ends and monthly balance sheet accounts reconciliation.
  • Prepare financial reports for EPM & FMM meetings.
  • Monitor, reconcile and resolve discrepancies of 3 investment accounts.
  • Responsible for fielding and resolving vendor questions including Staff questions.
  • Assist in preparing financial reports for internal management and external agencies.
  • Assist Eligibility Analysts with membership and active member reports.
  • Prepare and process Stop Loss insurance payments and reports.
  • Assist in producing on-going financials, other analytical and financial reports.
  • Responsible for managing the day-to day accounting functions.
  • Prepare and verify input of journal entries into accounting approved system.
  • Maintain cash receipts, cash disbursements, and accounts receivables journals.
  • Process yearly 1099 report for contractors and consultants
  • Maintain filing system for Finance/Accounting department.

  • Moderate knowledge of financial and accounting theory.
  • B.S. degree Accounting or Finance required.
  • Proficient in spreadsheet and word processing software.
  • Two to Three years accounting experience in QuickBooks Pro
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft office including Outlook, Excel, Word and Access
  • Experience with computerized information systems and other software programs required.
  • Experience in the health industry desired.
  • Understanding of community health centers
