Human Resources Manager

Compensation: To $135 K plus bonus and benefits.

Growing Manufacturing Company is looking for a HR Manager to join their team as a key member of their leadership team to be a strong business partner, leading EHSS (Environment, Health, Safety and Sustainability) employee relations, employee engagement, HR within a lean manufacturing environment, supporting continuous improvement initiatives and related aspects for two manufacturing locations.

Responsibilities of the HR Manager:

  • Builds excellent working relationships with all other departments.
  • Is responsible and accountable for EHS in collaboration with Director of Operations and other leadership members and maintains good records, drives the deployment of ISO18001 into the plant and captures metrics to drive towards the company's aspirations of zero accidents/risk.
  • Is responsible for the whole talent acquisition process, whether filling hourly roles, salaried roles locally or working with the company's Talent Acquisition team. Ensures recruitment is of a high quality and handled efficiently.
  • Complying with all hiring requirements given that the company is a Government Contractor.
  • Being responsible for HR aspects of manufacturing quality systems and ensuring appropriate training is conducted and documented in accordance with those standards.
  • Being a coach to line management on managing and leading employees and providing a toolbox that line management can use.
  • Develop standard operating procedures for the HR department and for line management to effectively manage employees. Providing a line management handbook for the management of employees.
  • Developing policies that drive efficiency, employee engagement and improved performance.
  • Working with Finance to prepare the HR budget for the business.
  • Creating education, training and development programmes for the business at all levels.
  • Ensures that company is complying with local, state and federal labour regulations.
  • Coaches and trains line manages on how to deal with employee relations situations.
  • Will be the resident expert in U.S. and California labour law.
  • Ensuring that the learning from employment legal claims and workers compensation claims are reviewed and incorporated into improved methods of working across the business to reduce future risk.
  • Reducing the number of legal and workers' compensation claims by creating an environment where issues are reduced and we have positive employee relations.
  • Reduces the business' risk exposure in all aspects of employment from recruitment to termination. This also includes from an EHS perspective.
  • Ensuring the performance management process is deployed, performance is enhanced through a robust use of the system, managers are trained in providing constructive feedback and development plans and succession planning is undertaken.
  • Manage and deploy the Global On-Boarding programme and Functional specific on boarding through the company's Academy, maintaining appropriate records for each employee.
  • Completing required HR documentation on time for payroll, benefits, auto enrolment, employee record changes, pay.
  • Documents compensation information and maintains good records and filing process.
  • Will be able to operate not only in a manufacturing environment but has a proven track record of being able to work with the corporate office.
  • Understands approval authorities for compensation, separation, termination etc.
  • Coach and trains line manages on how to deal with employee relations situations and
    application of grievance, discipline, attendance programmes etc.
  • Identifies skills gaps and develops a plan to address them.
  • Ensures compliance with the affirmative action plan.
  • Writes reports, compile spreadsheets and prepare presentations, memorandum and other
    communications.
  • Support and coordinates employee relations and change management activities.

Required Qualifications of the HR Manager:

  • 5 + years of HR Management within a manufacturing environment in California.
  • Must be a hands on manager capable of both the tactical and strategic components of this role.
