Data Ethics/Governance Technical Writer

Our client is looking for a strong Data Ethics/ Governance Technical Writer. This role will report to the Head of Data Ethics and the SVP Global Data Ethics. The primary purpose of the Data Ethics Technical Writer is to review regulations and internal practices and to develop and update data ethics policies, standards and process documentation based on various requirements like GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA, and assist with departmental communications originating from the Global Data Ethics team.

Data Ethics/Governance Technical Writer Responsibilities:

  • Develop, update and review data ethics policies and standards, including writing guidelines, standards, procedures, and other technical documentation (technical road-maps, project plans, analytic reports, etc.).
  • Work with stakeholders to obtain an in-depth service understanding and documentation requirements
  • Produce high-quality documentation (policy, process guides, workflows) that meet applicable standards and is appropriate for its intended audience
  • Maintain a centralized document repository and document baselines
  • Develop, maintain and enhance the Data Ethics portal (internal and external facing) regarding policies and procedures
  • Provide proofreading, editorial, and writing support to the team, including quality assurance reviews of information assurance deliverables
  • Collaborate on the management and facilitation of a metrics and measures program
  • Facilitate document change management life-cycle, including requests, maintenance, publication scheduling, etc.
  • Assist with stakeholder awareness regarding projects and action status.
  • Maintain proficiency in their knowledge of the latest technical writing techniques and technologies and industry best practices.
  • Provide training to company functions and offices on Data Ethics policies and procedures as needed
  • Review relevant federal, state, and international requirements on a periodic basis

Data Ethics/Governance Technical Writer Requirements:

  • Attention to detail.
  • 2-4 years in a Technical Writer role
  • Ability to quickly understand complex topics and flows, and then able to distill them down into easy to understand documentation
  • Scrappiness. We don't have all the answers already documented, but you'll need to find them.
  • Experience completing critical analysis, review, and editing of written documents
  • Ability to work in a collaborative manner to develop strong working relationships with the business and key stakeholders
  • An understanding of data protection, operational data governance, and privacy as it relates to consumer information
  • Comfort with ambiguity, multi-tasking, and independence.
  • Excellent written/verbal communication, presentation, drafting and negotiation skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, manage deadlines, and handle complex escalations in a fast-paced and demanding work environment
  • Fluent written and verbal English language skills required
  • Highly responsive and service-oriented attitude
  • Team player

  • Basic understanding of digital technology
