ACCOUNTING MANAGER

A forensic high-tech company in the East Bay is looking for an Accounting Manager who will assist with supervising the Company's accounting personnel while managing day-to-day accounting and compliance activities. The Accounting Manager will play a key leadership role in the overall Accounting organization around change management, process and controls improvement, scaling accounting and company infrastructure and operations, which will be critical to future growth

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Accounting Team Management:Managing the accounting team through its day-to-day operations and quarterly filing requirements. This includes supervision of some areas e.g. payroll, long-lived assets, prepayments, etc. and hands-on individual contribution in other areas e.g. revenue, commissions, compliance etc.
  • Revenue Accounting:Review sales contracts, determine revenue recognition (ASC 606), coordinate bookings forecasts and resulting revenue forecasting, and manage the invoicing and collections cycle. Also includes accounting for deferred revenue and commissions.
  • Payroll:Review payroll registers prepared by the Payroll Accountant; upload 401K contributions; prepare and post journal entries related to payroll, bonus and commissions.
  • Financial Planning & Analysis:Facilitate periodic budget-vs-actual analysis, prepare annual budget and refresh results forecast.
  • Month-end close:Support the Controller in managing the month-end close; identify and spearhead process improvements to develop an efficient month-end close process.
  • SEC Filings and External Audit Support:Support the team with the preparation of financial statements and quarterly SEC filing. Manage audit requests and address auditor queries.
  • SOX Implementation:Support the Controller with overseeing SOX compliant internal control policies and SOX testing.
REQUIREMENTS

  • BA/BS in Finance, Accounting, or related field of study
  • The ideal candidate should have at least 8 years of combined Accounting experience, with at least 3 years at a public accounting firm.
  • Minimum 1-2 years' work experience in a public company.
  • Strong working knowledge of ASC 606 required. Able to apply the five-step revenue recognition framework to various service contracts.
  • Good understanding of the audit process. Able to drive audit requests and issues to completion.
  • Good understanding of consolidation and foreign currency re-measurement and translation.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written English communication skills
  • High technical aptitude with MS-Excel and other software tools; experience with Netsuite is a plus
  • Active CPA a plus
  • Experience in stock-based compensation administration/accounting and/or tax-related matters a plus.
  • Experience in SEC Reporting and SOX a plus.
  • Experience in performing technical accounting research and drafting accounting memos a plus
