Our client is an established, successful construction company in southern Marin that has built a reputation based on quality and innovation. They're hiring a strong payroll leader who will take on other HR functions such as benefits administration, workers compensation, employee on-boarding, among other activities. The Payroll/HR Leader is a key hire for the company, given this person will interact with every employee in the firm. The successful candidate is self-motivated with strong analytical, problem solving and organizational skills. He/she will also be systems-savvy and possess strong Excel skills. RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manages all payroll operations ensuring timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salary changes, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions for approximately 120 employees.
  • Collects and audits weekly timesheets ensuring hours are recorded correctly. Imports data into ADP
  • Investigates discrepancies and reconciles payroll accounts within ADP and across databases
  • Ensures accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, changes to pay rates, and benefit changes.
  • Prepares and maintains accurate records and reports of payroll and HR transactions.
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices.
  • Prepares weekly, monthly, quarterly and year end payroll, accounting and HR related reports. Reconciles health insurance invoices and submits for timely payment.
  • Facilitates various audits by providing records, reporting and documentation to CFO and/or auditors.
  • Processes and tracks workers compensation claims
  • Oversees benefits administration, including conducting due diligence on various benefits options and making recommendation to leadership team
  • Leads employee on-boarding process applying best practices
  • Provides support for jobsite safety and safety compliance
  • Serves as employee point of contact for payroll and other HR inquiries


REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 2+ Years of payroll experience
  • Previous experience with ADP
  • Experience with Sage 300 CRE preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel (e.g. pivot tables, formulas, v-lookups)
  • Bi-lingual in Spanish is highly desirable
