Our client is looking for a long term temporary Accounting Manager to take responsibility for preparing consolidated financial statements, managing the monthly and annual financial closing process for multiple entities, providing direct supervision of accounting and accounts payable staff, and assuring compliance with regulatory requirements. Management responsibilities include: planning, directing operations, fiscal accountability, staffing and personnel management, staff development, and support functions to Senior Management. This role reports directly to the AVP and Controller

Specific Job Responsibilities:

  • Plans, coordinates, and manages the financial accounting functions, including general accounting and accounts payable. Supervises staff and support staff, oversees financial reporting systems.
  • Reviews journal entries, account reconciliations and bank reconciliations prepared by accounting staff. Ensures monthly reconciliations are performed between subsidiary ledgers and the general ledger, including fixed assets and depreciation, payroll, accounts receivable and accounts payable.
  • Prepares complex journal entries and assists in the evaluation of estimates for self-insurance, IBNR, contractual allowance and bad debt reserves.
  • Preparation of consolidated financial statements and analysis of budget variances requiring the ability to access, input, retrieve and analyze computerized information. Provides interpretation and recommendations relative to budget variance analysis.
  • Responsible for recording financial transactions and maintaining the accounting system to meet the needs of the various organizations and provide complete and accurate records of System assets, liabilities and operating revenue and expenses in accordance with GAAP, OSHPD and internal policy.
  • Assists in the annual budget compilation, capital budget and forecast preparation as required.
  • Gathers, reviews and analyzes financial and statistical data for special projects; prepares reports as required.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Five years progressively responsible healthcare finance experience; three years in a financial management position in a complex healthcare environment; or three years in healthcare audit management capacity preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of hospital accounting and reimbursement principles.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance or related. MBA, MHA, CPA or equivalent preferred.
  • Microsoft Office with advanced Excel aptitude and advanced working knowledge and five plus years of hospital general ledger Experience with major ERP software.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of computerized general ledger systems, budget software, and cost accounting applications.
